Stay home today

To those of you who live in Rome and are considering stepping outside and using public transportation: DON'T DO IT. The city is in total chaos today due to some rally in the center. I was trying to get from Trastevere to Piazzale Clodio and had to give up and go back home. It's ridiculous, the city is paralyzed today and apparently it will be tomorrow as well.

I think it's students, elementary - college, protesting Berlusconi's education bill. I believe it's up for a vote this week.

The bill is very controversial.

Yeah, that's what the word on the street was. The protest in front of the Ministry of Education has been going on for weeks. The next few days will be crucial.

I am sick of protests every day. There actually 2 today...not just one. I also got stuck on Monday when the whole of Via Cavour was overun with screaming protestors...

Leanne- yeah, it's becoming unbearable... while waiting at the bus stop for 30 minutes (then eventually giving up and going home), I heard so many people grumbling & complaining about this situation. It's too much, the city can't function and people are frustrated. I can't imagine how miserable it must be for people who are commuting these days with cars/buses.
